Terms of Service

1. What this is

bgammon is an online backgammon service. You can play free games against the computer or against other people, and you can play games for a stake in TON cryptocurrency. These terms govern your use of the service through the website at bgammon.xyz, the game at bgammon.xyz/play, and the Telegram Mini App and bot.

By creating an account, or by playing a staked game, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not play for stakes.

2. Who may play

You must be at least 18 years old to play for a stake. Free games against the computer carry no such requirement, but an account used for staked play must belong to an adult.

You are responsible for whether staked play is lawful where you are. We do not give legal advice about your jurisdiction, and playing from a place where it is prohibited is your decision, not ours. We may refuse or close an account when we believe staked play from it is unlawful.

One person, one account. Holding several accounts to enter the same table, to claim referral rewards, or to inflate a league position is prohibited and is grounds for closure.

3. Your account

You sign in with Telegram, with Google, or with a verified email address. Signing in a second way links to the account you already have rather than creating a new one, so your balance and history follow you.

You are responsible for anything done through your account. Keep your Telegram account, your Google account and your email inbox secure — whoever controls those controls your balance. We will never ask you for a password, a recovery code or a wallet seed phrase, and any message that does is not from us.

Your display name and member number are public: opponents see them, and the league board lists them. Do not put anything in your name you are not willing to show the whole service.

4. Your balance is not a deposit account

Your balance exists so you can play. It is not a bank deposit, it earns no interest, it is not insured, and we are not a bank, a broker or a custodian in any regulated sense.

Balances are held in TON and displayed in US dollars at a live exchange rate. The dollar figure is an indication, not a promise: TON moves, and the dollar value of an untouched balance moves with it. We do not compensate for exchange-rate movement.

5. Staked games, escrow and the fee

When you sit down at a staked table, your stake is moved out of your balance and held in escrow before the first roll. Your opponent’s stake is held the same way. The two stakes together are the pot.

The winner receives the pot minus a house fee of 5% of the pot. The fee is how the service is paid for. It is charged only on staked games; free games cost nothing and pay nothing.

On a table with gammon stakes, three times the stake is escrowed from both players before the game, because a backgammon pays three times. Whatever the result does not consume is returned to both balances when the game ends.

On a table with the doubling cube, accepting a double locks the additional escrow at that moment. If you cannot cover it, you cannot accept.

6. Results are final

The server decides the game. Dice are generated on our server with a cryptographically secure random number generator; no player and no client application can see a roll before it happens or influence it. The board state the server holds is the true one — if a client display disagrees with it, the server is right.

A settled game is settled. We do not reverse a result because a player misclicked, misread the board, lost connection, or changed their mind. The one exception is a fault on our side: if our own defect produced a wrong settlement, we will correct it, and we will say so.

7. Clocks, disconnections and leaving

Each turn has a 45-second clock. Letting it run out forfeits the turn, and repeated timeouts forfeit the game. This is not a penalty we apply by hand; it is how the table works, and it applies to both players equally.

If you disconnect, the table waits before awarding the game to the player still present. Reconnecting within that window puts you back at the board with your position intact. Closing the app during a staked game does not cancel the stake.

Resigning awards the pot to your opponent at the cube value in force. Leaving a staked table is a real financial decision, which is why the interface asks first.

8. Deposits

You fund your balance by sending TON, or USDT on the TON network, to the address the app shows you, or through the supported payment bots. A deposit is credited after the network confirms it, at the exchange rate quoted at that moment.

Send only the asset and only on the network the app names. Cryptocurrency sent on the wrong network, or to any address other than the one shown for your account, is not recoverable by us and cannot be credited. Network fees are charged by the blockchain, not by us, and are not refundable.

9. Withdrawals

You may withdraw your available balance to a TON address at any time, subject to a minimum amount shown in the app. Available means not currently escrowed in a live game.

Withdrawals are paid from our treasury to the address you give. Check that address: a transfer to a wrong but valid address is irreversible and cannot be recovered by us. A network fee is deducted.

We may hold a withdrawal while we investigate suspected fraud, collusion, multi-accounting or another breach of these terms, and we may refuse it if the investigation confirms one. We will not hold a withdrawal for any other reason, and we will not require you to play a balance through before you can take it out.

10. Referrals

If someone starts playing through your invite link, they are linked to you permanently. You earn 30% of the house fee from every staked game they play, win or lose, credited to your balance as each game settles.

Referral earnings are ordinary balance and can be withdrawn like any other. What is not allowed is inventing referrals: linking accounts you control yourself, or arranging staked games whose only purpose is to generate fees. Earnings produced that way are void and will be removed.

11. Conduct that ends an account

Playing several accounts at the same table, or arranging with an opponent to move money between accounts (collusion), is fraud against the other players and against us.

Using an automated player, a modified client, or any exploit of a defect in the game is prohibited. Finding a defect and reporting it is welcome; using it is not.

Abusing, threatening or harassing other players, or using an offensive display name, is grounds for removal.

12. Suspension and closure

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Where we do, an honest balance — one not produced by the breach — remains yours and can be withdrawn.

You can close your own account at any time by asking us. Withdraw your balance first: we cannot pay out to an account that no longer exists.

13. Availability

We try to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted. Maintenance, a provider failure or a network problem can take it offline. Where an outage interrupts a staked game, escrowed stakes are returned.

14. Limits of our liability

We are responsible for running the service honestly: correct dice, correct settlement, correct payouts. We are not responsible for money you lose by playing, for the price of TON, for a transfer you sent to the wrong address, for the security of your Telegram, Google or email account, or for a loss caused by something outside our control.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the last substantive revision, and a material change will be announced through the service and our announcement channels before it takes effect. Continuing to play after that means you accept the new version.
